Ometepe doesn’t all have to be action packed or outdoor adventure: There are planty of places to visit that don’t incur extra charges or effort.

Wander down to the rocky outcrops into the lake just down in town, or visit the long stretch of sandy beaches in Santa Cruz and Santa Domingo. The water is shallow a long way out. There are many cafes and comedors along the strip to grab a drink or food from.

There is a market here every Saturday morning to explore and enjoy, sampling products and delicious homemade snacks.

The lookout points on the Istian have a couple of stunningly situated cafes too.

Visit Zopilote and their bus stop for cool gifts. They’re parked just in front of Raindance, where there are often live musicians as well as DJs and their infamous Wet Wednesday pool party.
